چکیده

In this study, it was aimed to stereologically examine the medulla oblongata volume of Norduz sheep in Gürpınar District Van Province. Upon receiving news from sections region, we went region. A total 12 skulls, 6 females and males, were received slaughter After brains dissected, they fixed as a whole formaldehyde for 1 week. Medulla oblongatas separated brain kept Tissues obtained by sequential random sampling used texture tracking. tracking, 10-12 5 μm thickness taken method using rotary microtome (Leica RM, 2135, Leica Instruments, Nussloch, Germany) steel disposable blades. These stained with hematoxylin-eosin staining viewed under an Olympus CX31 microscope U - TV0, 5XC 3 Tokyo Japan. Photos 4× objective calculations. Total volume, cortex values calculated separately images Shtereom I program. The Cavalieri's principle when applying stereological methods statistical evaluation between sexes, no difference found comparison values, both sexes. addition, there sexes terms medulla/total ratio values. However, value 0.004 cortex/total case, since p < 0.005, is possible talk about statistically significant male female value. Again, medulla/cortex be 0.041, observed calculations evaluated programs all results presented literature.

Role of the medulla oblongata in hypertension.

Brain pathways controlling arterial pressure are distributed throughout the neuraxis and are organized in topographically selective networks. In this brief review, we will focus on the medulla oblongata. The nucleus tractus solitarius (NTS) is the primary site of cardiorespiratory reflex integration. It is well accepted that lesions or other perturbations in the NTS can result in elevations of ...

Respiratory chemosensitivity in the medulla oblongata.

Respiratory regulation is considered as a feedback mechanism serving the homeostasis of the hydrogen ion concentration in brain extracellular fluid during rest as well as during exercise. Only in hypoxia the working range of the regulator is shifted in such a way that a sufficient O2 partial pressure is maintained at the cost of hydrogen ion concentration. The main sensing element of the regula...

Bacterial abscess of the medulla oblongata.

Isolated brainstem abscess, specifically, medullary abscess, is rare and often fatal. Diagnosis requires appropriate imaging and a high degree of clinical suspicion. Good outcomes are possible. A 69-year-old woman presented with an isolated medulla oblongata abscess that manifested as a syndrome of rapidly progressive multiple cranial nerve palsies and decreased level of consciousness. Microneu...

Medulla oblongata volume: a biomarker of spinal cord damage and disability in multiple sclerosis.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE While brain MR imaging is routinely performed, the MR imaging assessment of spinal cord pathology in multiple sclerosis (MS) is less frequent in clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to determine whether measurements of medulla oblongata volume (MOV) on routine brain MR imaging could serve as a biomarker of spinal cord damage and disability in MS. MATERIALS A...
